Inter-Generational Workforce
- Duration
- 1 day.
- Hours
- 6 hours plus lunch break.
- Target Audience
- All levels of staff, especially managers with older staff reporting to them, and vice versa. Everybody needs to know how to relate to Gen Z who have recently joined the workforce. Just think back to the era when Gem Y first entered the workforce.
Gen Z will benefit greatly in knowing how to work with older generations as they are now getting a salary, whereas in tertiary education, they are the ones paying education fees and hence have a lot of leeway in their behaviour and attitude.
- Mode
- In-Person.
Introduction
It is possible to have 5 generations in the workforce today – traditionalists, Baby boomers, Gen X, Y and Z. Five different sets of core values, work styles, perspectives, etc. Where do you find common ground for everyone to feel they belong and their contributions are valued?
Issues like reporting to someone younger, managing those with more experience, including all age groups in discussions and training courses are real and potential conflict points.
We need to blend trusted and proven ways with innovative methods in our ever-changing world to maximise synergy. While Emotional Intelligence is a critical soft skill, the “hard people skills” of overcoming age diversity to stay current and relevant must be mastered.
Case studies of companies that have mastered age diversity are included.
