Introduction

A brief overview.

This program is for all levels of your organisation as it focuses on developing people skills- understanding emotions, how to read your colleagues and how to adjust your approach and collaborations with staff members.

Staff members who understand each other and their different approaches and emotions will lead to greater leadership and increased productivity. This workshop also delves into conflict management with role playing activities that will strengthen your interaction and efficiency.

To be an affective leader you must be able to build strong relationships, trust and people skills. The group activities in this course will give you hands-on practice in understanding and communication to strengthen your leadership skills.

  • How the physical sensations affect our nervous system so that we feel emotions.
  • Know your emotional triggers and have plans to respond, rather then react, when the negative emotions emerge.
  • Use positive and “I” language to communicate, as it minimizes defensiveness in others.
  • Conflict management.
    • Know your default conflict management style and how to relate to the style of others.
    • Demonstration and role plays to highlight the different styles and how to turn the potential conflict into a resolution that gives the desired result.
    • Role plays play to reinforce that these styles are all on a continuum and are not discrete.
  • Probing questions to get to facts – samples are given.
  • Coaching
    • Role plays to coach staff in various situations, as stated in this outline.
  • How to listen actively.
  • Recognize common body language signs.

  • Video on using words in an engaging way to make your message clearer.
